The NBFM (Narrow Band Frequency Modulation) unit is sought after for addition to the A-Series receivers. Why would any one want a functionally useless addition
for their receiver? Well, this is collecting and has nothing to do with functionality. I am smiling as I type this. When these fine receivers were designed NBFM looked attractive. The bottom line was the
advantages of Single Sideband so far out weighed the advantages of NBFM (used only commercially) that NBFM was rendered a non-requirement. So what! As collectors we still want to own a receiver that is
functionally complete so we look for the elusive NBFM modules to plug into our A-Series receivers ($200 (08/00) in the Collins collectors market).
