This name was derived to indicate a Collins Radio package style. At the time of the products introduction the innovators in equipment design recognized
that the small size was desirable and possible with the new miniature components. The advertisement for these new systems emphasized the integration into the living room environment.
The name originated more recently as a big box derivative of the S-Line. It's human nature to want simple categories. The A-Line lumps all of the big ST. James
gray (the paint color) boxes in to this group. This equipment was designed when "bigger was better". Even the big packaging is impressive. Remember this equipment was designed with out CAD.
I have placed pictures of the add-on components in this section. Many of these were sold separately for special applications. These range from bandpass filters
to noise blankers.
I have lumped all pre-A-Line equipment into this category. My collection is sparse in this area. -- Oh Well
