The NC-303 was quite a stylish receiver when it was introduced (~1958 after the NC-300). The advertisements told of a compact receiver  (I don't know what they were comparing to?) that removed the general coverage and focused on only the "Ham" bands. There is much similarity to the previous HRO-60 receiver even with the new design. The crystal calibrator is the rectangle box in the rear next the the transformer.
