This 75A-3 receiver has been restored to better that factory original by W3HM Howard Mills as indicated by his signature bright work. From the top view there are three
areas of interest. First, this receiver has the standard Collins Radio crystal calibrator PN. BR-1 ($200 in the collectors market 08/00) in the upper left corner top view. Second, in the top center is the Narrow
Band Frequency Modulation (NBFM) detector ($300 in the collectors market 08/00). Third, the filter assembly includes a nonstandard filter (middle right of PTO $200 in the collectors market 08/00). The filter with
the bright label is a 300HZ crystal
filter (PN. 526 7073 009, 455KF300). This filter really makes this unit a great CW receiver (I know, how could it be better?). Nothing like the thrill of pulling DX out of the mud with the old receivers.
The next page will compare the top view of the 75A-1, 75A-2 and 75A-3 receivers. I did not put the 75A-4 into the comparison because the packaging is radically different. The A1 to A3 receiver sub chassis rack mount
in to their individual cabinets. The 75A-4 cabinet and receiver are a integrated unit.
