The plaque on the unit reads "Loose Coupler Receiver
and Spark Gap Transmitter , 200 meters – Circuit and
Design By Cole & Morgan 1916. From Amateur Radio Station
1BNP, Restored by W1NPL". Here you have the original Amateur
Radio Service TRANSCEIVER. This is an excellent restoration
of what H. Percy promoted in the ARRL. This unit actually
works, although the transmit spectrum is probably pretty
spectacular. The unit includes a DeForest Detector and
a Dublier capacitor. The other components do not have
manufacturing markings. Note this was a working station
in 1916. The transmitter uses an interrupter rather than
a motorized spark wheel. This was high technology in 1916.
You can work DX beyond 15 miles with the proper 200 meter
curtain antenna.
