This page covers the Collins 32S-1 transmitter. This design was the first of the S-Line transmitters delivered to the market. The small package and the tuning simplicity made the unit an instant market winner.
Remember back then the "bigger was better" mentality prevailed. There was still discussion about the SSB "duck talk" and long time "phone" operators saying they would
never buy a SSB rig. The S-Line was designed for SSB operation. All other modes were "almost" an after thought. Looking at the top view of this little transmitter the reader can see the DX Engineering speech compressor (gray square -top view). This addition increased the audio
punch. The operator added several dB to his signal intelligence output by pushing more audio into the sideband. Collins offered several optional CW filters for the companion 75S-1 receiver.
